background information
Starting from the history of the band, in the beginning, the band consisted of Meguru (Vo), Kana (Gt), Tsubasa (Gt), Tara (B), and Yuusuke (Dr). Kana wanted to start a band, and he knew Meguru, since they were in a band together. Kana also knew Tara, and Kana and Tara wanted to be in a band together. Tsubasa got roped in through an ad, and Yuusuke will remain mysterious. All 5 of them discussed the concept of the band and came up with, "2nd page nature species band". Personally, I think that they are trying to convey the idea that their band has 2 sides.

The band name "Panic Channel" was thought up to represent the band. Just like you have various channels on TV, and you can flip through the channels, this band can also "change channels". Sometimes, you'll see the numbers "829". That number reads "Panikku". It doesn't really work out, but lets analyze each kanji. Starting from "8", this kanji can be read as 'hachi', 'you', 'ya', 'yatsu', 'yattsu'. The closest one is 'hachi' and in Japanese, in certain circumstances, you can change the 'ha' hiragana character to 'pa' or 'ba'. This will turn 'hachi' to 'pachi'. Going on, there is "2", and this can be pronounced, 'ni' or 'futa'. Obviously, that is where they got 'Panikku'. Finally, there is "9". The kanji for "9" can be pronounced as, 'ku', 'kyuu', or 'kokono'. If you put all the numbers together, you will get 'Pachiniku', and if you edit it, you'll get 'Panikku'.

PANIC*ch is the more happy/poppy side of the band. Their songs are like punk rock, with a lot of not comprehendable "engrish" lyrics, with ska/pop sounding guitar lines. They also use a lot of other guitar effects, and not only the distortion noise. The band members act more cutesy, and Meguru prances around singing. Tara will stick out his tongue in a cute manner, and members will flick their middle fingers randomly. Their outfits also makes you know which band is which. All the members in PANIC*ch dresses up in casual clothing. They wear their outfits from their favourite brands, and their makeup isn't all that extreme. They put on some light lipstick, and eyeliner, and VOILA!, there is your PANIC*ch.

On the other hand, there is the band Panikku Channeru. Panikku Channeru wears heavy makeup, and some members look really scary. They'll have goo on their faces, dark red/black lipstick, and make their faces look pale. Their clothes look "gothic" and they are more revealing. Some members will look more feminine while they're in Panikku Channeru. Their songs are more of the heavy rock type (well, not too heavy) with a lot of distortion guitar noises and nifty bass lines. Their lyrics are also like the typical Jrock lyrics, like ANGSTANGSTMYLOVERLEFTMEANGSTRAWRRRRRRRRRR!! There is a lot more screaming, and the songs give off a more mysterious aura. Even while they perform, they look more serious, and they're completely the opposite of PANIC*ch.

Currently, the band is still going on, and their drummer is now Takumi. They are gaining a lot of popularity in the indies rock scene, and have performed at various livehouses. Their first album is called "TRICK" and was released on March 2005.
